New Toy!
I love Pez.
How could you not love a candy that comes in fun packages? Today, I added this lovely piece to my collection of dozens and dozens of dispensers!
Nick and I traveled to a galaxy far, far away (ok, not so far. Cambridge.) and saw the Star Wars exhibit. We saw props and costumes and reaffirmed our belief that raising children may not be for us.
And I was reminded of something I believed ten years ago...and still believe now. To quote a line from my last column in my high school newspaper: Science Doesn't Suck.
So, I guess, once again, I'm a nerd.
Don't Judge a Book by its Genre
I'm a fiction girl.
When I go to a bookstore, the first place I wander to is always fiction. Always. Sure, I occationally pick up a nice biography or some sort of DIY manual..but when it comes to reading for fun, it's fiction all the way.
So when someone recommends something out of mystery, or god forbid, sci-fi, I usually give some sort of non-committal response and go back to my safety section.
But then, I can't be catagorized as one thing! I am so many things! So maybe, just maybe, my taste in literature could be expanded...just a bit.
And you know what? It has.
I just finished a book you would find (hold your breath for this one!) in fantasy! FANTASY!!! Land of the geeks and black-robed dorks! Oh heaven on earth, is there no humanity left! FANTASY!!! And, I liked it! I couldn't put it down! I carried it everywhere! I read it during commercial breaks! What's wrong with me?!?!
And now all of a sudden, my never-ending bookshelf of things to read is getting a whole lot bigger... Time! I just need more time to read!!!

Unexcused Absence
So maybe it's been a few weeks since I've done any blogging...but I've been a very busy girl! My parents were in town, and while they were here, we were everywhere!! We went
here,
and here. Then, we wandered over to
here and dodged bugs while visiting
this famous landmark. We listened to the acoustics
in the big world map. We saved the trip
here for our last day. And I spent the last of a
gift certificate. Of course, none of this was done on an
empty stomach!
And now, the mini-holiday is over, and I'm
back to work!
My Secret
Faithful Reader,
I've been keeping a secret from you for some time...want to know what it is? I'm ready to admit it now.
Nick and I are moving out of Boston.
See, Nick actually finished with his thesis awhile ago, and we've been trying to figure out what to do. And since he has a history of making beaucoup cash as a wildland firefighter, he's going to do that during the summer, while I tie up loose ends in Boston.
Then, when the lease is up in August, we're packing our bags and moving to......San Diego!!! Nick is totally burning out on science, so he's going to become a tennis pro down there. The money is right and the climate even better!!! I will be "getting out of the business" and finally starting my crafting empire!! I plan to open a booth in Old Town, and go in on a co-op with some other artists in the area I met during our trip there a few months ago. We'll be selling our pretty little things to tourists and hopefully making enough money to buy the dog of our dreams and our little home on the coast. The plan is to save enough money to start our own book store!!
So, now you know! Forgive me for keeping the secret...I hope you understand and support our big upcoming move!!
